The trees generated by the SMARTree software can be viewed and edited outside of the SMARTree software. Using an XML format allows the trees to be manipulated and accessed by external solvers and databases.

SMARTrees can be opened and edited in any test editor such as Notepad ++©, and viewed in Internet Explorer© Google Chrome © and Microsoft Excel©. This is made possible as each SMARTree has an XSLT stylesheet in the header of each document. Simply drag and drop the XML SMARTree into any browser to view in tabular format.

Users can make changes as needed and save as new trees with these editors although to it more efficient and less prone to error to create and modify the trees using the SMARTree client.
